Bait aside I do think that with the US sudden change of foreign policy regarding their military quasi-monopoly & projection, France has some solid role ahead in Europe/NATO. Sure there's some scalability to assess because it was so abrupt, but the military technology, expertise and experience is there and will be key I'm the years ahead - not to mention the only nuclear sovereignty thanks to De Gaulle foreseeing the eventual turncoat and general nuclear energy capabilities.
