I didn't mean my post to sound like that, but certainly we can agree that conversations about mechanics in this game leave more to be desired, we can appreciate normal IDs for more than just meta value and numbers

I have been meditating on canto 8 for a while and I have three big things that bother me
- We don't see the full range of emotions from Hong Lu in this canto, the narrative relies heavily on him being the hopeless victim, Huan makes some good points about his character but they don't do anything. In short, cantos should be about exploring the character, here it feels incomplete.
- Kong is a mystery nigga on steroids, not only do we know nothing about his motivations but he affects the narrative quite a bit, he ends up saving the team and passes on as being more likeable than Hong Lu
- The antagonists are a nothing burger and the fight against Jia Mu is symbolic more than anything, if we had the option to rescue XiChun without fighting anyone we would have taken it. She is set up as a smart manipulator and when we confront her she throws a tantrum and fights us, like if she became a different character
