You know, they're still doing that. Street Fighter 4 was the first symptom, as admitted by Ono. DmC: Devil Mat Cry, Dead Rising 4, Lost Planet 4 and that boring piece of shit movie game where the ending was DLC that everybody loves but me Asura's Wrath were the ugliest, rash-filled stages of the infection. But starting with RE7 and MH World, they've hit a stride where they managed to marry the putrid visuals western graphicwhores want with good japanese gameplay. Inafune and those Canadians were scapegoats and we are right to hate them, but in a way, Capcom as a whole never stopped "pandering to the west", and I suspect they had this mindset ever since Resident Evil, the very first one, was such a smash hit.
