Duncan had losing record against Kobe in the ‘Yoffs, and Kobe was the best player in a series that had prime Duncan & prime SHAQ…and Kobe swept his asshole. Same with 2008, without Shaq it wasn’t even a competitive series. A gentleman’s sweep.
Let’s get a little deeper. One of Duncan’s rings was a fluky lock-out ring, and in 2014, Duncan was merely a role player. Duncan won 2 of his championship as the Lakers were re-building around Kobe (05, 07). Duncan never averaged over 4 assists per game (meanwhile Kobe averaged over 5 assists per game 10x. Duncan only averaged over 23 ppg twice in his career. Kobe averaged over 25 ppg 12x. Same amount of All-Defensives. Duncan is responsible for the most embarrassing international loss of All-Time (2004 vs. Greece), while Kobe brought the Re-deem team back to prominence.
They are not on the same level. Kobe is like a whole damn two tiers above Duncan.
