Defacing Persona 4 with mods would be like removing Chie, or making Naoto trans or Kanji gay. The developers themselves changing the background art around or increasing the contrast because the details of power lines and such don't resolve right on the smaller, OLED Vita screen isn't defacement. It's just a style choice. The console not being able to display fog tech the same way which caused them to use a different method isn't defacement either.

Modding the PS2 fog tech and power lines back in to the Golden PC version can't possibly be defacement, it's pure restoration. Increasing resolution of assets and adding the new songs from the anime also makes Golden on PC overwhelmingly the superior way to experience Persona 4.
