I'm one of the anons you responded to. The modern Japanese conception of Christianity is as a subversive, secretive religion that was an undermining force acting against the unification of the country during Sengoku jidai with the right to host merchant vessels being used to pit daimyou against one another. Nobunaga was against it, Ieyasu banned it, and those two are largely responsible for the modern conception of Japan as a single nation with one government. It's much different than "haha gaijin believe funny"
