i'm also not a group talker. i used to just sit there quietly too, but at some point in my life, i realized the fun of ditching situations.

i'm a floater, if the conversation is roaring i slink off (usually to go stir up trouble). at parties i'm meeting new people and asking oddball questions, at work i check in with people i haven't talked to in awhile, at hangouts i do the active thing (do flips into the pool, play wiffleball, throw the football/baseball, etc). there's not a single topic in the world that i want to discuss at length, unless you're an expert in something that i'm not or you have strong outspoken opinions, and in that case i'm going to ask you a barrage of questions solely for the fun of learning something new.

but if i'm basically forced to attend group discussions, i spin people off from the main discussion and talk to them. and if that doesn't/won't work, i resort to playing devil's advocate, challenging established concepts, saying dumb shit, trolling, or changing the subject. and if i'm kept from doing even those things, i might sit and listen, but i'll probably leave even though i'm "not supposed to".
