The remaster is the definitive version of the game with the only difference being you playing as the dad or brother of Yonah. Its not a scam like many others and adds many cut content from the original. The thing was that the original game ran out of budget which happened often in Taro's games. Things like the true ending had to be told in a separate book that took a long time to release outside of Japan. Many years later Nier Automata success and money made Taro go back and add in those things alongside improving the OG Nier with lessons learned from Automata, mainly the combat.
