It's not that "nothing happens". You just don't care about the characters that stuff happens to.
That's fine. Fujimoto couldn't "hook" you in with the new P2 characters, you just wanted to see the old ones, and it didn't happen. Probably won't happen.

There's plenty of stuff that happened for example to a character like Yoru. But if you don't give a shit about her then indeed "nothing happened".
