The difference is that NATO Ukraine (after the revolution) would've represented an entire bloc of countries that will do whatever the Americans tells them to, while containing Russia. On top of that, Russia expressed their concerns over NATO expansion since the early 1990's, before even the Visegrad had formally entered it.
Iran was not NATO, but rather the sole exception in the Middle-East that had the capability to challenge Israel. They had no backing from anyone else, and were the clear underdog from the day one. A nuclear weapon would've made them an equal power in Middle-East.
When Russia attempted a decapitation attack in Kyiv, the entire Western world rushed in to prevent it and paint Russia as the literal devil. Sanctions were imposed and armaments were delivered. When Israel easily achieved their decapitation strike, they had zero backlash, other than /pol/ and angry muslims online.
