Odd. According to my calculations, it's more like 3 years. Of which only 2 serious ones. Your short post already shows you only have a surface level knowledge and only assume to know what I knew then and what I know now. Conversion to Judaism is possible, it's called giyur/giur. I knew before I was even interested in Judaism that this is a long process and entails lots of studying. However, the Talmud is quite clear that the convert is just as much a Jew as the born Jew - given that the process of giur is strictly observed. However, even though there were some inspiring moments during Talmud studies, I just couldn't get myself behind the extreme exaggeration of laws only to then loophole around them. Most notoriously the kosher diet and the shabbat observation. It really felt so dead to me. All the wile, I respect my bodily integrity and I found it odd that despite their many loopholes, they didn't have a single one for circumcision. I tried to look into non-Talmudic Judaism but the Karaites were just as hellbent and there's no Karaite community anywhere here. But then my Catholic friend told me to give the New Testament one more chance - but I'd have to start reading with Romans 2. And that was a gamechanger for me. And over the years I opened up more and more to Christianity. First as non-denomibational, tried to find a place in protestantism (remonstrant) but eventually realised that was all a massive cope and I needed to return to home/Rome.
