He probably was being really push with them, and he wasn't 100% confident that he didn't do it. Had he been and been able to suggest it to his manager maybe he'd of gone for it.
but even then getting drunk and going clubbing and making out with hostess probably isn't the image the team wanted.
It's ultimately his fault for inviting these two chuckle fucks to his down time and then they just casually decide to ruin his fucking life.
the damage was done the second he let them take the pictures of him. he didn't need to invite them to the club, even they're surprised they're in the club. had he taken the interview seriously he probably would have been allowed to play in the majors despite being a shit tier baseball player.
he's an amusing villain but I hate to say it his hatred of women is misplaced.
