Trump always said that he wanted a new nuclear deal with Iran, maintained that Obama's nuclear deal was insufficient, and said he would force a deal with gunboat diplomacy rather than make concessions to Iran.

This is literally a campaign promise he made in the early primary campaigning period in 2015 and strongly emphasized during the 2016 campaign. He has been saying this for nearly 10 full years now: We cannot allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon, and we made too many concessions to Iran in order to discourage (not prevent) them from developing a nuclear weapon.

Personally, I don't give a crap if Iran keeps doing stuff like organizing Shiite militias to support their religious group outside of their territory. The pro-Iran crime groups usually don't even do that much bad stuff, and they got in trouble in the US for trafficking cigarettes. (Honestly, Iran, you can do it, but you just have to do it LEGALLY.) I could even go on a huge rant about how I've looked into all the shady stuff Iran does and realized these retards are almost naively religious in their operation of everything, even criminal organizations, and just care about their religious laws way more than they care about our secular laws. In other words, as long as they respect our secular laws while simultaneously obeying their own religious laws, I don't care if they exercise their beliefs outside of their borders, as long as they don't continue funding groups like Planned Parenthood.

What matters more is that our citizens have rights. We have a right to practice our beliefs and proselytize to their citizens; they need to respect that, and allow their own citizens to convert when we preach to them. Our citizens have rights to many properties which were stolen by their regime; they need to return them. We require apologies and reparations for many actions Iran has committed over decades; they must pay their dues. We also have rights which extend beyond our borders and they need to respect that.
