When I'm at my home gym I just listen to music but when I go to the actual gym, they usually have Sky News and Sky Sports News on the tvs so I watch those.
I mostly just listen to whatever I'd normally listen to anyway. Only exception is I find that I don't lift as well when I listen to rap compared to rock, metal or EDM. Probably cos I'm focusing too much on the lyrics. Was listening to Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City and was struggling with weights I'm normally comfortable with.
Lately I've been listening to Queens of the Stone Age and Mastodon during lifts and doing well. Ideally the music strikes a balance between giving me something to think about and sing along to while not giving me too much to think about and distracting me from what I'm trying to do.
Oddly enough, the best session I've ever had was when I was listening to a Hatsune Miku shoegaze album (pic related)
