It's not just a zoomer thing. it's also a woman thing. My sister was talking shit to me the other day about buying a $100 phone when she thinks I should get a $50 phone with a contract. She was telling me I waste money... while I was eating a peanut butter sandwich for dinner to save money. Meanwhile she gets food stamps but has to spend cash and borrow money from me to buy food (frozen individual pizzas and shit) each month. I've had my current phone for 5 years. If I have my next phone for 5 years and spend an extra 50 bucks, that's $10 a year for something I use for hours every day. The only reason I bought my current phone was because the one before that didn't support Slack, which I needed for work.
Another story: Her ex bought some really good meat (frozen steaks and burgers) from a door to door salesman, who at first offered him 2 cases for a certain amount, and then said he could sell 1 case for a little under half as much, just this one time (a variation of the door-in-the-face sales technique). My sister said that meant the meat was a bad deal (without comparing to other sources of similar quality meat). She talked down to me when explaining the concept of markup... and then she showed me the $6 deodorant she had to buy a dozen of, since normally they're $12.
TL;DR: Women are terrible with money but think they're fucking financial geniuses. And it's impossible to have any meaningful discussion about it with them because they don't listen.
