If they want to show pride in their military they can only show the latest and greatest they have today (usually Cold War hand me downs from when the French or British left).
They can't have pride in their history since it's either European colonialism that they seethe about endlessly or it was spear chucking animals since they only modernized quite recently due to European colonialism.
