consoles are not a viable business in mainland China due to CCP intervention, but they allow steam to exist as an “unofficial” route, and more and more Chinese are joining the global version of steam in search of alternatives (official Chinese versions of Steam exist, but due to censorship the software lineup there is not very good)

Thanks to Wukong, the number of Chinese language users of the global version of steam has increased dramatically and now accounts for half of its total users
In the near future, all game publishers will be required to release their games on steam and consoles simultaneously
