I’ve come to understand that there is no "objectively" best fighting game.
Each game has its own gimmick, and those always come with pros and cons. We "could" have a game that combines the best gimmicks, but it would overlap between companies, which is unviable unless it's a fan project.
Then everything that comes after becomes subjective once it passes the threshold of being good.
>Character selection
Subjective.
>Art style
Subjective.
>Soundtrack
Subjective.
And that’s not even taking into account how fighting games are one of the genres most blinded by nostalgia glasses of all.
