Christ does say that the world is ruled by 'satan' however he called peter the same thing, that he was satan for trying to stray him away from his history to unfold. peter, concerning himself only with his desire, was reprimanded by Christ. this means 'satan' to be a descriptive term for adversary, however there are demons also known as principalities (e.g. ba'al hadad). gnosticism does not make much sense, despite it being appealing, it seems unfinished in the sense that if you truly think that one should despise life, how would that make you escape the demiurge? why is matter or the world something that binds you to the false and not the true God? such dichotomy seems unnecessarily complex. considering gnosticism isnt much different to lurianic kabbalah that later influenced sabbatean frankism, both being rooted in the concept that the world is fundamentally flawed for the monad was shattered into pluralistic units, each one of them containing the spark that must be unified for oneness again by the acts of tikkun olam, which are the crossing of every boundary, be it physical or moralistic (taboos, heresies) for the segretated sparks of light to be monistic again by rectification. the results of such being applied does not bring us great results, it is pretty much transgenderism and modern western decadence and wickedness... maybe it is time to rethink where it (gnosticism) is coming from. the nag hammadi library being discovered only in 1945 after the end of the wwii should raise great doubt.
