They would have obviously nuked Germany if they had the bomb prior to defeating them. I'm sure they wanted to do it anyway but showed restraint only because it would be bad optics for the American public at that time, in which anti-semitism was beginning to slightly wane but were only 20 or 30 years away from the American public being VERY antisemitic in the early 20th century.
Even the act of nuking Japan was an abomination.
