Hard to say. 4chan in particular latches onto characters seemingly at random, and very often the ones you'd least expect.
I think if Mimi gets some real pathos going, she'll get a few anons dedicated to her. If she was a side character, I think she'd be brought up more as a meme than anything else.
It's actually kinda weird that I know less about Mimi than the two side girls.
