A lot of Eva's Christian/Kabbalist/Gnostic imagery actually IS meaningful but not in a literal sense. Adam/Lilith, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Magi, the Sefirot in EoE, etc all have plot-relevant connections to their original theological concepts. People heard (correctly) that NGE isn't about real word religion and it bloomed into this misconception that ALL of the religious references in NGE are purely for stylistic flair, like a game of telephone.
This isn't the case for BA, you may be able to draw some tenuous connections here and there but if you hear reference to any Sumerian or Semitic concept in the story it's probably just to sound cool.
