Depends on where they are in their life stories.
Iliira spent ages 1-20 in her home village.
20-27 in the big city, learning the trade as a thief.
27 to around her 40s as an adventurer (specifically the 5e campaigns Tyranny of Dragons, Out of the Abyss (as a cameo NPC), and Storm King's Thunder (ditto))
And 40+ having come home to her village, settling down as an innkeeper. Largely because she got pregnant and so decided to settle down to raise her half-elf daughter Cara.
I figure she's going to go adventuring again sometime in her late 60s/early 70s - when Cara has her own kid, making Iliira a grandmother, which shocks her into once again realizing that people around her are aging a lot faster than she is. But this time, instead of her childhood friends, it's her own daughter.
She'll be a little more mature about it this time, though, thanks to 20 levels of adventuring meaning she doesn't have a Wisdom penalty anymore.
