>“I’ve missed you too.” You say, hugging Bronte tightly. In this moment, where it was just the two of you alone, you didn’t have a problem dropping your usual demeanor. Though you knew you two were not blood related, you still saw Bronte as a dear sister and friend. Perhaps the person you held the most confidence in. It stood to reason that until you came to Morfis, these last three years without her had been lonely ones. You had a million questions for her, but those could wait until she was ready. For now, you were both happy just being in each other’s presence.

Bronte rubs her face with the sleeve of one arm, wiping away her tears. Though still red-faced, she does her best to put herself back together. She grabs you by the hand, and begins leading you away towards another room. “Come, let us catch up in private. I’ve had enough work for one day. Tell me, how are mother and father faring?”

>“Your mother is fine.” You say, allowing Bronte to lead you to a small office in the back of the room. You walk past those enormous statues you saw earlier. They were even bigger up close, but you don’t stop to examine them. “She’s busy as always with governmental affairs. Especially now that trade with Morfis is starting to ramp up. She worries about you constantly, but Corrine and Kate know how to settle her down. As for your father, he actually wished to accompany me here, but your mother would not allow it, saying he wasn’t a young buck anymore. Frankly, I’m glad she did. He’d have been really stuffy to have around.”

Bronte laughs heartily, opening the door to a small office. Inside was much plainer than what you’d seen of the rest of the palace. Books and papers were neatly piled atop a wooden desk, and the furniture present within was all of modest make. You both take a seat on a dark green couch, situated in the middle of the room.

“I’m glad mother stepped in as well. As much as I miss them with my entire heart, I fear things in Morfis are about to grow heated, and very fast. And what of Lila and Ogier? How are they?”

>“Your little brother talks about joining the Knights of Seiros. Blair isn’t thrilled with the idea, but after I told her I’d be coming here, she seemed to warm up to it. I guess she figured there were far more dangerous things her son could be doing. As for Lila, she’s still as shy and reserved as ever. She prefers to sit around in the castle, helping her mother and reading whatever she can get her hands on. I suppose it’s for the best that at least one Weaver child stays at home. They both miss their older sister though.”

Bronte sighs in relief. She takes a moment to compose herself, once again on the verge of tears, but manages to remain strong.

“Thank you, Tristain. I look forward to nothing more than seeing them all again. To do that though, I’ll need your help.”
