I wouldn't say racist so much as they have a sense of humor about race. They love Miles Davis and a bunch of black jazz artists and other musicians, so the racial animus isn't that deep or meant to be offensive. Just a bit of banter more than anything.
t's like how Croats, Bosniaks and Serbs will all say shit like "Did you see that nigger at work? He was pretty cool. I like him." and just make light bants that only get serious when the person acts like a fool. basically, it's just fun and games that Anglos (and especially Americans) can't understand because they want to be offended.
