I can't tell if they were actually a girl this whole time and just took advantage of it given how uninterested they were in the monster girls and them finding some of the shadow magic stuff "creepy and squirming" or if this is some kind of fusion of the now proposed KC skeleton/alp scenerio.

I'm going with the former because the idea the skeleton was a female skeleton the whole time is funnier to me.
