akazukin chacha is a very good mahou shoujo from 1994, well worth your time if you enjoy the genre. not technically a hidden gem to people in the know, but worth mentioning.

alien 9 is good. cossette is my favorite loli ova though. that is a visual masterpiece and the peak of shinbou's career. fuck everything he did at shaft, i wish he still actually directed shit. it was the last thing he did that meant anything.
