Oh I agree with you fully. That's why I mostly work goetia and the Greek Magical Papyri and haven't really worked with Ishtar or Inanna. The historical record is clear that they're the same deity interpreted through different cultures though, which is why the thread covers all of the Queen of Heaven's emanations.
And yes, she's an antagonist but it's still one of the most full-featured myths we have about her. And one of the lessons of the myth is that you can't deny love
