Yeah. Dropping smoke meant the turrets couldn't focus so I just targeted down the incendiary enemies that would have made me run out of the smoke.
I got a little spooked about friendly fire when reinforcements arrived, but it looks like vehicle turrets can fire over friendlies without a problem.
