Far Cry 4 equally had reason to hunt, since it more or less copypasted and iterated on 3 in every way except having a protagonist with charisma that anyone cares about (Ajay is voiced by the same VA as the friend in 3 who gets raped by Buck, and is so devoid of any charisma and purpose they made two sequels with mute protagonists). It's 5-6 where hunting is pointless, to the point they cut the animation out, and the harvested materials become nothing more than vendor trash because you just upgrade gear with money. Or in 6, you just wear stupid looking outfits to get a fraction of the upgrades because all the upgrades and abilities are tied to clothes because they're stupid.

Crafting needs to fuck off entirely. If it were at least like New Vegas or 4 (ideally a mix, since 4's UI is leagues better) where you can make both general and improved ammo as well as repair kits and food from a simple, functional GUI, it could be tolerable. instead, it's carrying around actual garbage, hoping for lucky random loot rolls for tools and equipment, and choosing whether to pay for upgrades and repairs or pay to be allowed a whole five minutes on his workbench, where you can spend equal or greater amounts of money buying disposable parts to do the upgrades yourself for no actual benefit.
