They're decent as is, work reliably, shoot very straight, but trigger feels kinda shit, the factory furniture is creaky and cheap feeling, and you're limited to single stack mags.

For the .45 caliber pistols and carbines, they actually use a modified 1911 magazine, so if you get something like a CMC 15rd stendo or something other nicer quality like that, then cut the new notch in that mag, it'll work in the Hi-Point, and then you'd get past the only real reliability issue Hi-Points have, the factory magazines sometimes not being quite functional (though Hi-Point will replace a bad magazine for you if I recall right).

With the low cost of the Hi-Point, it may or may not be attractive to look at getting a replacement stock for one. If you can find one of the ATI ones which are designed to look like the Beretta Storm carbine, those are MUCH nicer feeling, though it's one of the very few things which can void your warranty with these.
Another option is the High Tower Armory bullpup kits, which you can get for all of the different calibers, and in multiple colors, and they're also pretty high quality.

The main advantage of the HTA bullpup kit for the Hi-Point is that it's one of the very few options for a bullpup carbine in 10mm Auto, .40 S&W, .45 Auto, and .380 Auto (not sure if they made on for the .30 Super Carry version, actually). If you like bullpups and you like 10mm, there's very little else which is both.
The drawback is that these are bullpup kits, so the already not very nice trigger on the Hi-Point is now going to be even worse thanks to the added trigger linkage.

HTA have talked about making replacement magwells for the kits, since the magwell is detachable, and people have fantasized about using stuff like Glock mags for nicer capacity and what not, but best I know, HTA still haven't made these. If you're a 3D printer kinda guy, maybe you could try to make your own.
