I don't find Sephiroth interesting on his own. I find Sephiroth's effects on Cloud to be interesting, hence why I like the few times Sephiroth is on screen.

But something that caught me was the parallel with Cloud

Both Cloud and Sephiroth would rather believe they were special to avoid a truth they don't want to hear. But of them encountered a mind shattering event that forced them to reevaluate who they are. But where Cloud was able to accept that he's an awkward dork and not a superhero. Sephiroth continues to double down that he's just supposed to be the heir of the planet. Even when that's clearly not true
