Translated 400 years ago to Middle English (NOT Modern English)
Translated from poor sources, like the Textus Receptus version of the Greek compiled by Erasmus; for the Old Testament, the Masoretic text of the Hebrew was used.
The NIV uses the oldest & the most prolific & common manuscripts, including the Dead-Sea Scrolls, compared by some of the best scholars.
James was pretty good for it's time, but was rejected by early Americans until nearly 100 years ago.
Most Bibles written in the last 40+ years are far better than KJV!
