(spoiler for the sis that just started) The coma curse is cured, the 1.0 story is finished, and getting more miracle macguffins to defeat darkness works anywhere. There's already very loose continuity in the base story, the coma incidents is the only connecting thread that links areas. And the few loose ends left can be adressed as random quests.
I don't see a problem with a brand new story, the stylist guild sending you somewhere for some task is a very flexible start to any new questline.
