depends on who you ask: the ones best off are probably (rich) Frigéian citizens, the Echorists and Great Houses in Argia's homeland, and the upper classes of the Throne. The worst off are probably the scattered humans in the Night Lands right beneath the shade of the planetary ring.

The Maduans, on the other hand, have everything a human animal could ask for: long life, peace and plenty of food, a tight community. Then again, like Heraclitus (or Saint Albertus Magnus) used to say: If happiness is pleasures of the body, we would deem cattle happy when they find an abundance of chickpeas.
