Felt a bit the same when I played it back then, the fact that you can't really mess up finding the killer left a bit of a sour taste after finishing it, it felt like a linear VN
I loved the game though and despite that ending I still kept thinking about it even months after having played it and now it doesn't feel so bad, replayed it many times since then and I don't think that's really the point of the game anymore
