There was a moment of hesitation, but everyone on the ground seemed to comply with the command as they started to backtrack whilst keeping the horde at bay. Louise threw out several shrapnel grenades, and Ben copied her by tethering a few of his own together and tossing them out like a pair of bolas.

Multiple explosions rang out, and the resulting bombardment gave you enough room to pull out a few of the explosive potions you borrowed from Young's shop. The detonations you created were notably more colorful than the others, but no less destructive.

Deadhead tried to cover you all by spraying fire back and forth, but even you could see that the barrel was getting far too hot from all the constant laser fire. So, everyone made a break for the portal and dove in one by one.

When you reached the other side, you noticed that you were…on the other side of the courtyard? Shaggy had repositioned you all behind the enemy!

“Good plan.” Ana said, pulling out her Laser Lance and firing off some quick shots at the zombies’ backs.

“Would ya mind?” Deadhead asked, pulling his barrel up to your eye level.

You were confused for a second, before you realized what it was that he was asking you to do, and breathed a plume of foxfire at the overheated barrel.

The metal hissed as it quickly cooled, and the man, once he was satisfied, went right back firing into the horde.

“GET SOME! GET SOME!”

Alongside him, Ben projected a bar of green flame between himself and the zombies, setting them ablaze with ease. Harpy rained death down from above with gamma beams and plasma fire. Louise flew up to her, removed one of the rifles from her back, and started providing air support as well.

James moved to stand beside you, his bone claws extended in anticipation. He was waiting for you to finish throwing out flashbangs before he dove right in.

In the back, the undead were currently being obliterated by Mekara’s heavy artillery and Aegis’ laser vision. Shaggy had maneuvered the group into an effective pincer, and it caused a divide between your forces and theirs. The zombies looked like they were having trouble deciding whether to prioritize the giant death machines raining fire down upon them, or the more vulnerable group positioned behind them.

No one declared it outright, but you had a good feeling that this would all be over very soon.

Block by block, street by street, your team cleared out as many zombies as you possibly could for the next four hours. During this time, you rendezvoused with the Salamander girl's forces and the small strike team that the Were-Rat had put together. Thanks to those sewer grates that you clogged up with your Sap Gloves, they managed to secure multiple routes leading between the Kaiju King's castle and some of the various shelters set up throughout the city.
