Gene splicing will be very rudimentary at first. I would bet the very first (safe) gene splices into humans would be for different hair / eye colors (in asians).
They will probably do it in a rat/dog first. Note that ANY color you can see in the keratin (hair, fur, feathers, scales) of an animal you can probably insert into the hair of a human.
