Thoughts on the Shikoku 88 Piligrimage Route?

I ask because I've been taking it in chunks, and aside from Japanese/Koreans/Chinese, the ones I see the most on the route are Germans, and they said they got interested because they saw 88 and wanted to know wtf, then got onboard because the start has a German WW1 Prisoner Camp at the start, and it's a long hike in a big circle and 'we Germans love that shit'
