It’s true, so much of these logos, branding, even the way these restaurants (the huge fast food chains particularly, I mean) are built and arranged now, from the inner layout of tables and chairs to the building itself, they all seem so much more soulless. It’s like neo-brutalism, some Soviet bloc style shit.
It was still ultimately a celebration of consumerism, corporatism, giving in to our desires to eat unhealthy, ultraprocessed, yet tasty greasy salty fatty food, so that anon’s right the nostalgia might be a little misguided, but it’s still astounding how even that devolved into something worse. Including at least on the sheer aesthetic level itself. The one above is still tacky as fuck but it has at least more soul than the bottom.
