What's the appeal of wearing clothes with buttons? It doesn't make any sense to me. I kinda get the idea of wearing a suit if you are in a corporate exeuction position but even then it is kinda weird. Isn't it more an cultural enforcement? It's neither functional nor does it look, at least in my eyes, better than clothes without buttons. Also not comfortable at all.

What baffles me even more is why the Japanese threw away their superior meiji period outfits and replaced them with western suits. They looked incredible and were very functional. But at lest even back then a suit looked way better because it was custom made for each person and combined with a cylinder hat and walking stick.
