What happened bros, Nika is literally pirate jesus. Oda invented Nika not even 20 chapters before the climax of Wano, no hint at all of a "Sun/Warrior/Liberation God" prior. Now Luffy is the chosen one who was destined to eat the Gomu Gomu, excuse me, Nika Nika Fruit - and turns out plenty of different races around the world literally worship God Nika - fishmen, giants, and uh buccaneers.
Kuma carries a Bible and is literally a fucking priest at a church dedicated to pirate jesus!
Not to mention this is the only time Oda has ever invoked actual gods/pantheons for One Piece. Mythical Zoans, before Nika, were all just mythical creatures and figures from the real world. Phoenix, Buddha, Dragon, Pegasus, Orochi, etc. None of these are creatures that actually exist in the One Piece world, as they're mythical. Real gods, the Buddha, these were never implied to actually exist. And before, whether it was the superstitious gods of the Shandians, Enel as a false god, the demon summoners Brook landed among, etc - typically Oda depicted these gods and deities as mere beliefs of different people, and not actual gods. The "Sun God" of Shandia was just a giant snake.
Now not only do we have a mythical zoan that behaves like a paramecia and has unique properties to it, it is also the only example so far of a totally Oda invented deity/god which seemingly exists in the One Piece world.
