yeah my PO =/= the Sustainer =/= The Abyss is 100% correct. the PO set up a protective bubble around tevyat that shields it from the calamity that presently engulfs the universe. the fake sky represents a new fate for all life which is probably fated to die but is being protected by the PO. Skirk is a denizen of a universe/world that was extinguished by the great calamity and came to tevyat through the abyss searching for the person that can either give her a solution or give her revenge (the sustainer, probably). her movement was facilitated by surt who probably preyed on her desire for revenge/hope for a solution to save a loved one by giving her a shit deal in exchange for access to tevyat
