Pretty much the death of TRU in the US was also the death of 1:18 in toy stores, for the most part. Fortnite had a pretty decent 1:18 run, and Halo took it's shot, but without TRU and G.I. Joe around, generic 1:18 military stuff had no where to go. G.I. Joe and TRU were always intrinsically linked with each other and once TRU went under, G.I. Joe quickly followed suit, and with it 1:18 military stuff in general. Even Amazon doesn't really carry any good 1:18 stuff.

The shame of it all is that the last wave of the Retaliation line could arguably be considered one of the best waves of the entire ME run. It's like they knew the line was ending so they threw everything they could at us with that one. We got the best CC and Stormshadow figures of the line, multiple really nice troop builders, some of the best Retaliation based figures while also getting comic based representation and a few figures that were teased years ago but never expected to actually see production. And that's not even considering all the gear they came with, tons of extra weapons or unique builds and accessories and even some old Action Pack styled homage accessories like spring loaded heli-packs and jet packs or the mini-HISS drone.
The 50th line that followed wasn't all that bad either, running another three years and putting out a lot of new characters, re-releasing old favorites and even dropping some nice vehicle repaints. While at the time it kinda felt like the Joe line just kind of passively died off, looking back it's clear they went out by dropping some of the best figures of the entire run.
Though we still couldn't get a half way decent Duke.
