>How come some "people" simply can't be alone at any time or enjoy some peace and quiet?
I have literally nothing to support it, and won't waste a second researching it, but my gut tells me it's related to the fact that some people have an inner monologue, can picture things in their head etc and some can't.
I suspect people with an inner monologue are comfortable on their own because in a way they keep themselves company, their minds can wander, debate, contemplate, but those that don't suddenly find themselves in a void of complete nothingness which must be terrifying and unsettling and so they seek that constant external stimulation to fill that void.
