You can safely do auto if the battle is the same rank as your team of lower, specially if you have a healer on the team. I cleared the shop after the 5th time with only auto, every time with a different team (J / Inspiration / Nightmare / Dynamo / Foundation), but I'm sure some might be able to clear after the 3rd or 4th time.
