I work remotely for a company in a different country. In early 2024 I got totally burned out really badly, probably needed to seek treatment.
I took about a week off, but when I returned the workload increased dramatically. In May, due to unrelated circumstances I lost my home. I had to move to a city where I don't know anyone. I haven't been able to meet anyone due to the nature of my work and the time difference between my working hours and the typical schedule in my country. I got severely burned out again, this time I did seek treatment but I kept working. Work was going very badly and I kept making mistakes.
Around September my boss, who has known everything that has being going on stopped inviting me to staff meetings, didn't tell me when they moved office and stopped all social chat. They even stopped adding unnecessary chit chat in emails. No more hellos or anything like that.
My work quality continued to suffer and I would up in hospital with the stress... at this point in front of other staff members during case list meetings, my boss started asking if I knew how to send emails, text messages, and started pulling me up on missing punctuation in inter staff emails, days after I sent them... My job performance continued to suffer.
I told them that I found that very condescending and I considered it a form of bullying. I told them that I would be limiting my communication with them henceforth (no more case list meetings in front of other staff) as I found the condescension upsetting. They told me that I should book myself into an institution to be helpful and that I should contact my doctor and tell them "how much I am struggling"
Am I overreacting in thinking that they are trying to bully me?
