What I wondered is, if it is the way Shanks got so strong. He spent the last 20 years pouring conqueror's haki into his sword and is therefore able to always have way more than his opponent.
Another similarity is, that when the gorosei got hit by the conqueror's haki their devil fruit abilities and the fruit ability that makes the teleportation circles, seem to have gotten negated.
The same thing happened with Green Bull's tree form, when he got struck by Shanks' haki.
Shanks is also the first person to get through Bartolomeo's barrier.
