I don't think gigapixel alone would've be able to get close to the original, pre-filtered pages, not without being trained for it. Jump+ images undergo some processing before they're downscaled, such as blurring and sharpening to make the screentone pattern less visible while keeping the lines sharp. That's why there are halo effects all around the screentones. Picture related if you want to see how bad it can get.

Power of 2. The images just go from 1200px to 2400px, there's no downscaling afterwards.
