Shippers have a bizarre anti-(male)MC bias for some reason. Unless a girl is treated as undeniably for (You), you'll get people saying that she and the MC are "just friends" or "sibling coded" or whatever.
Heck, I've even seen undeniably for (You) girls get hit with the "She's just friends with the MC" stick.
